The Hunter family makes their way by wagon to the Oklahoma Territory for the promise of free land. Much to their disappointment, when they arrive, much of the land is already occupied and the family is unable to stake a claim.
Joseph, a boot maker, sets up shop in the town of Woodward.

1923 Great Grandfather Joe with his favorite team, "Cap and Jeff." He's on crutches, nursing a broken leg suffered from playing catcher on the town baseball team.

Robert is a pioneer of growing alfalfa in the region. Many area farmers seek his advice for their own alfalfa crops.
Robert's son Joe and wife Viola plant less productive land back to grass after the “Dirty Thirties.” Joe and his son Everett use the remaining fertile farmland to produce mainly wheat and alfalfa.
